KAFi Q

A queer, inclusive performance café

Zurich, Hamburg, Berlin

KAFi Q invites people with and without dis_ abilities to meet and to make art together.

KAFi Q is open to everyone. Every Saturday and Sunday, there is a workshop on dance, theatre and writing at the «Zentral Oben» next to the Zentral stages.

The workshops are given by artists with and without dis_abilities. Participants are: Frank Häusermann, Simone Aughterlony, Milky Diamond, Caitlin Friedly, Die Heitere Fahne, Kieron Jina, Sara Hess, Fatima Moumouni, Noha Badir and many more!

But you can also just drink coffee.

There are many surprises in our coffee place.

KAFi Q also stands for: questions and possibilities, pop songs and heavy metal.

Sometimes quiet, sometimes hectic. Laughter and silence.

You can dress up, drink and eat, or party and dance.

Lounging on cushions. Loud and quiet, and everything in between. A collection of different logics. Joy in the absurd.

Together and next to each other.

And see what happens.

KAFi Q is in the «Zentralbar». KAFi Q has an inclusive team. KAFi Q wants to create an inclusive network and organise regular events in the future. (zts)

Workshop-Programm

CHIMERAS

Sat 19.8., 11 to 13 hrs
drawing, creating, sharing

A chimera is a being composed of different and recognisable parts.

It is also a wild fantasy and something ungraspable.

In a series of simple poetic experiments, we will create fantasies about our own bodies together.

With eggs, paint and imagination, we will invent our own chimeras, name them and thus bring them to life.

About the artists:

Simone Aughterlony is a performer and choreographer.

Frank Häusermann has been working for over ten years as a performer at Theater HORA.

Two years ago, the two artists started their common research on chimeras in their piece «No Gambling».

Milky Diamond & Caitlin Friedly

DRAG

Sun 20.8., 11 to 13 hrs
make-up, transformation, story-telling

Let’s transform. Maybe you want to switch between genders or maybe you want to become a pirate or an alien. There are no limits to your creativity.

Famous drag performer Milky Diamond is sharing their skills and knowledge on the art of drag.

Caitlin Friedly is a huge drag fan and will assist the workshop.

About the artists:

Milky Diamond is a drag performer and visual artist and also carries the name «Queen of the Scene».

Caitlin Friedly is a performer at Theater HORA and founding member of KAFi Q.

Heitere Fahne

Birds and glitter in cosmos

Sat 26.8., 11 to 13 hrs
masks, consent, birds

What do you need to feel comfortable?

How does everybody feel comfortable?

We will play  a «consent-glitter-game.»

And we will work with bird masks.

And «set our birds free» (which is a German metaphor for dealing in an empowering manner with mental health topics).

Kieron Jina & Sara Hess

HOME IS THE BODY

Sun 27.8., 11 to 13 hrs
movement, creative writing, home

In this workshop we experiment with our bodies in relation to the question: What constitutes a home?

Bodies sometimes leave their homes voluntarily. Sometimes they are forced to. Home is the base from which everything begins.

This workshop is gentle as well as physical. Creative writing with the body – and play.

The workshop will be observed by the visual artist Sara Hess.

Sara will create live-paintings from her observations.

About the artists:

Kieron Jina is a theatre-maker, choreographer, teacher.

Sara Hess is working as a visual artist at Kunstfabrik Wetzikon.

Fatima Moumouni & Noha Badir

Workshop Voice_Language_Stage

Sat 2.9., 11 to 13 hrs
cutting, writing, microphone

We are making a «goulash with words». Searching for words and texts. Cutting, gluing, finding new orders. Stories, songs, sounds. Finding language and voice. Loud, quiet, serious and funny.

And then try them out on microphones on stage. Mmm, yummy.

How to overcome trembling knees and voices together?

About the artists:

On the last day of KAFI Q at the Theater Spektakel, there won’t be any workshops.

We want to gaze into the future together.

Where could  future events of KAFi Q take place?
