Building together for a better future: Finta+ Building is an inclusive and cooperative building project by and for Finta+ people. The German acronym Finta+ stands for women, intersex, non-binary, trans and genderless people – with or without disabilities.

The starting point of the project is the structural discrimination of Finta+ people in skilled work, in Switzerland and beyond. In order to draw attention to this predicament and to create a platform for support and exchange, the project group is building a structure on the Saffainsel. This will be a public meeting space for all Finta+ people from the crafts sector as well as from art, culture, cuisine and ecology. Here, existing structures can be questioned and new forms of cooperation can be explored. The goal is a sustainable networking of all Finta+ people who participate in this barrier-free project before and during the festival.

In addition, there will be a varied programme with workshops, joint weaving and building, talks and cooking. (ab)

The project group invites you to Saffainsel to build, weave, discuss and reflect. For Finta+ people and cis men it is not the same to be in the building and the event industry. The project group demands that all people feel comfortable building and working together. The evening is not curated, the group is excited to see what emerges.

The project group continues to build. The basic structure of the building is in place, but the work is far from being finished. The structure is to be further thought out and worked on by different people. By the end of the festival, the Finta+ structure should be intertwined and interwoven, just like the network of the project group. This is a formulated wish: to create a network of Finta+ people who are active in the construction and event industry, who are interested in this or any other Finta+ network. The group wants to braid, weave, screw, nail, saw and exchange ideas together.

«WOMEN IN THE DARK» is an international, transdisciplinary and participatory, non-profit art project by Swiss artist Franziska Greber. «WOMEN IN THE DARK» invites people to write experiences, injuries, but also hopes and demands with red pens on white blouses. In this way, the reality of Finta+ people's lives comes to light from a dark place. Together, they carry their voices into the public sphere. After «WOMEN IN THE DARK» took place in Zimbabwe, the Seychelles, Mauritius, China, India, Chile and Germany, the writing process is now being continued in Switzerland.

OPEN CONSTRUCTION – BUILDING TOGETHER WITH NETWORK AVANTI

The project group continues to build. The basic structure of the building is in place, but the work is far from being finished. The structure is to be further thought out and worked on by different people. By the end of the festival, the Finta+ structure should be intertwined and interwoven, just like the network of the project group. This is a formulated wish: to create a network of Finta+ people who are active in the construction and event industry, who are interested in this or any other Finta+ network. The group wants to braid, weave, screw, nail, saw and exchange ideas together. A representative from Network Avanti will be present. Network Avanti stands for a society in which all people have equal rights and can shape their lives in a self-determined way without discrimination. Network Avanti advocates for the interests of Finta+ people living with disabilities or chronic illness. The question of how to build inclusively is at the centre.

NETWORK MEETING* – TECHNicians* meet At Finta+ BAu

The project group invites you to breakfast on the Saffainsel and runs a solidary bar until the evening. Finta+ technicians from the group's network and the staff of the Theater Spektakel are on site. They work day and night, often on weekends, and often have irregular working hours. That's why the project group is on-site all day, so that technicians and festival staff have the opportunity to join in. The project group wants to continue networking, exchange experiences, hear how others do it and develop new ideas together: How can Finta+ people feel comfortable in their everyday work and what structural changes are needed for this? In addition, construction is underway. The basic structure of the building is in place, but the work is far from finished. The structure is to be further thought out and worked on by various people. By the end of the festival, the Finta+ structure should be intertwined and interwoven, just like the network of the project group. CRIP CAFÉ

Sun 27.8., 11 to 21 hrs
Access for Finta+ persons with a disability and their assistants only

A day by and for Finta+ people with disabilities and/or chronic illnesses. It is about coming together in the space created and developing a sense of community as participants take time to share the realities of their lives. It starts at 11 hrs with a brunch, where participants get to know each other and support and care for each other - for example, when eating. In the afternoon, there will be various performances and workshops around the theme of «being disabled» as a Finta+ person in a capitalist society. Topics such as rejectionism and how to deal with it, crip time and how the need for more rest and relaxation can be met and the time for it demanded. The aim is an intersectional exchange and mutual empowerment. There will also be a place for the experiences of BIPOC and queer people who experience discrimination. There will be many breaks between the workshops and performances, which will be celebrated with a collective rest. Active recreation will also be offered in the form of swimming together in the lake. From around 18 hrs, the day will be concluded with cooking and eating together.

Cosmic cosmetics of all colors, glitter from parallel universes, jewelery for jewel bipeds and temporary tattoos that want to hug the skin. A face, hair or an idea is enough – the decorative fairies have the rest. It's time to shine!

ART FROM THE CONSTRUCTION – Lecture and TALK – structural discrimination in the construction and Event industry

An evening where the project group invites you to read and exchange together. Structural discrimination is particularly evident in the construction and event industry. Texts will be read that inspire and empower. Afterwards there will be a guided talk with people from the team, experts and the audience.

OPEN CONSTRUCTION – BUIlDING, COOKING AND BODY WITH MARGARETHA JÜNGLING

Fri 1.9., 15 to 19 hrs

An afternoon during which the project group continuous to work on the structure while cooking at the same time. The parallels between constructing and cooking are great.

Much was woven, built, discussed and exchanged. This has given rise to an idea that remains a surprise until shortly before the festival ends.

JOINT DECONSTRUCTION

The project group invites you to support them in dismantling. Because what is built is big and the dismantling time is short. Drinks and food will be provided.
