What does it mean to be human? How can we rise above us (and our bodies)? In their new show «Humans 2.0», the world-renowned circus company Circa explores those highly intimate yet universal questions. The production is the sequel to «Humans», which premiered in 2017. Both shows – and the work of this Australian group as a whole – are characterised by breathtaking acrobatic feats. In «Humans 2.0», the bodies of the ten performers pulsate and expand into new, larger beings; they fly, climb, float and catch each other again and again. Circa mixes classical acrobatics with contemporary dance, figures full of tension alternating with gentle movements. Absolute mutual trust runs like a golden thread through the entire performance.

Circa has been touring the world for almost twenty years and, under the direction of Yaron Lifschitz, the company’s award-winning artistic director, continues to explore physical boundaries. Lighting design by Paul Jackson and music by Ori Lichtik are important components of the performance, outlining and mirroring the movements of the acrobats. This is a poetic and brilliant declaration of love to what unites us all:
being human. (as)
