Helgard Haug / Rimini Protokoll

All right. Good night.

Berlin

On 8 March 2014, flight MH370 disappears from the radar. The Boeing 777 takes off from Kuala Lumpur as usual, but never arrives at its planned destination in Beijing. Relatives of the missing passengers have been asking for the past nine years: «Is there any news?» A similar question haunts the father of the author and director Helgard Haug. He suffers from dementia and, repetitively, asks his daughter: «What will happen next?» The helplessness of facing an ongoing disease mirrors the disappearance of a gigantic airplane.

«All right. Good night» thrives on powerful images and invites you to ponder on life’s big questions. The gripping show is performed by the musicians of the Zafraan Ensemble, with a composition by electro pop artist Barbara Morgenstern. There is no dialogue, but text is continuously projected onto a gauze and other surfaces. The two performers alternate between the spotlight, blending into the captivating musical performance or, at times, leaving the stage altogether. «All right. Good Night» takes you on a journey of reconciliation and poetry, which deals with death, loss and its associated grief and uncertainty. The two stories are woven together into an evocative, touching performance that will reverberate for a long time. (af )

Simple words

In 2014, a plane disappeared.

There were a lot of people on board.

The plane was never found.

In the same year, Helgard Haug's father became more and more forgetful.

Helgard Haug is the director of this play.

Her father has dementia.

The play mixes both stories together: the story of the missing plane and the story of Helgard Haug's father.

It is about the disappearance of people we love.

There is a lot of music and no dialogue.
