Slow Show
Paris, Los AngelesFor children and families
Seemingly standstill. Based on principles of trance, exultation, telepathy and unconscious memories, the performance «Slow Show» by choreographer Dimitri Chamblas unfolds its effect through the almost imperceptible movements of 50 performers. Supported by the gentle music of Eddie Ruscha, the 20-minute dance performance seems to expand time and make us forget our fastpaced present.
Chamblas has developed innovative, interdisciplinary projects with various artists, including choreographers such as Mathilde Monnier and Boris Charmatz, visual artists such as Christian Boltanski and musicians such as Kim Gordon.
Since its Los Angeles premiere, «Slow Show» has been performed at Luma Arles in France, the Choreographic Development Center La Termitière in Burkina Faso and other venues all over the world. For each performance, around 50 people work on a new incarnation of the choreography during a four-day workshop under Chamblas’ direction. In forming a temporary community and exploring different moods and intensities of movement, their highly concentrated interaction with their immediate environment reaches its peak at the moment of performance.
