Amanda Piña
The School of Mountains and Water – Mountain Talks
Mountain Talks
In her artistic work, the Mexican-Chilean-Austrian artist and choreographer Amanda Piña explores the relationships between cultural and biological diversity. Her multi-perspective research and work can now be experienced at the Theater Spektakel in her performative walk «Mountains in Resistance» and also on the occasion of «Mountain Talks». On four consecutive afternoons, this open exchange format will provide a place for encounters between art, indigenous knowledge, activism and scientific research.
Various local experts from the fields of hydrology, biology, geology and climate development provide insights into their disciplines and share their view of the world using the example of the sensitive ecosystem in the Alpine region and the surrounding area of Zurich. These experts enter into dialogue with Amanda Piña and her artistic colleagues Cecilia Vallejos, Leonel Lienlaf and Juan José Katira Ramirez. Together they create an exchange weaving together artistic, scientific, experiential and indigenous perspectives that aims at challenging traditional hierarchies in forms of knowledge and thought. Together with the audience, the «Mountain Talks» reflect and speculate on future relationships and practices between mountains, people, animals, water and forests, allowing us to re-think value systems and at the same time design alternatives.
